The much-awaited movie ‘83 which was scheduled to release on April 10 has been pushed owing to the Coronavirus pandemic and everything in lockdown. There were rumours going around that the Ranveer Singh starrer would directly be released on OTT and a whopping Rs. 143 crore had been offered to the makers by a giant OTT platform. But Reliance Entertainment, the co-producers of the movie have denied any such claims. The production house has said that they will evaluate the situation after six months and then take a call on the future of the movie’s release.
Shibashish Sarkar, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment in a statement to bollywoodhungama.com said, "There is no truth to these reports.'83' has been made for the big-screen experience. Right now, there's no intention or interest on the part of the directors or us as producers, to take these films to the small screen. If the situation deteriorates rapidly or there is no visibility of normalcy even after six months, we will evaluate then. But right now, we are all quite positive and I foresee that between the next four to six months, cinema halls will start operating. So that's the hope and mindset which we currently have."
The ensemble cast movie ‘83 has been directed by Kabir Khan and traces India’s first-ever World Cup victory of 1983.
Ranveer Singh is portraying the character of Kapil Dev whereas Deepika Padukone plays Kapil’s wife Romi Dev. The cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Chirag Patil, and Adinath Kothare.
