Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji surely knows how to leave a lasting impact on the audience with her powerful and versatile performances. While she has aged like fine wine and continues to impress everyone with her acting prowess, she is one of the few actresses who rarely divulge in the details about her personal life. Recently, she attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne where she spoke about suffering a miscarriage which left everyone shocked.

Talking at the prestigious event, she revealed that she was expecting her second child with husband Adity Chopra during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she miscarried the baby five months into the pregnancy at the end of 2020. She went on to explain how she refused to talk about the matter while she was promoting her last release Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway as people would have seen it as a promotional tactic. Quoted by India Today, she said, “In today’s world, every aspect of your life is discussed publicly, and becomes an agenda for talking about your film to get more eyeballs. Obviously, I didn’t speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film so, it was around the year when COVID-19 struck. It was 2020. The 45-year-old actress went to share that producer Nikhil Advani called her a few days after she lost the baby to tell her about the movie. No one from the crew was aware of her personal loss. As soon as she heard what the story was about she gave her nod as sometimes “there is a film at the right time about what you are going through personally to be able for you to connect with it instantly.” 

For the unversed, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is based on the real-life case with Sagarika Bhattacharya, whose kids were taken away by the Norwegian Child Welfare Services on the grounds of improper treatment. Directed by Ashima Chibber the movie was released on the big screen on March 17th.
