The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja organised by Bollywood’s Mukherjee family and a bunch of eminent Bollywood starts, is all set to go virtual for the second consecutive year. Due to covid restrictions, many grand festive organisers have taken backsteps and the Mukherjee family is not exceptional. Every year this Durga Puja grabs all the attention for the grand affair and the presence of many Bollywood stars.
The members of the Mukherjee family including veteran actress Tanuja, her daughters Kajol and Tanish Mukherjee, her niece Rani Mukherjee and her nephew host the festival wholeheartedly. Film director Ayan Mukherjee, along with other Bollywood stars grace the Ashtami function every year. Also, the extended family of Mukherjee’s including Ajay Devgn and Bollywood and TV actor Mohnish Bahl attend the function.
Like 2020, this year also, the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti members have decided to go virtual by setting up live streaming from the pandal. This would help to restrict the crowd gathering inside the pandal during this pandemic time.
Deb Mukherjee, a senior member of the family said, "This is the second year we are doing a virtual Durga Puja. We have to maintain social distancing and wear masks, so we are not letting a lot of people come in. It is only for members. Keeping everyone's safety in mind, we thought going virtual was the best decision to make. Even the members are allotted a specific time slot when they can visit the pandal."
Not only just that, the Durga Ma idol has also scaled down to 4ft and 6ft including the Mukut. Only members can come and visit the pandal in small batches. Elderly members are requested to stay home. To ensure minimum physical contact, the outsiders are not allowed for ‘daily bhog’ and flowers. Only two hours have been allotted for the morning 'anjali' without flowers and another two hours for the 'sandhya aarti' -- for members only.
