Turns out, RK was offered the role by Karan when they were shooting for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in London. A source close to the Tamasha star said, “Apart from Raju Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic, Ranbir doesn’t want to do any other biopic. He loved the script but he explained his stand to Karan.”
Talking about the film, the source added, “The film is budgeted at Rs. 80-90 crore. It will be shot at studios in Mumbai and at a host of real locations in India, China and Germany, which have a connection with the hockey player’s life.”
The ambitious project was flagged off in the beginning of April 2012. The biopic will span a few decades in the early 1900s when Dhyan Chand rose to fame in British India.
We wonder how KJo and Pooja have taken to Ranbir’s refusal, but we know for a fact that they are now searching high and low for the lead.
When contacted, Pooja said, “It’s my prerogative to decide and announce my cast when I’m ready.”
