Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone are known to have great work chemistry and are also good friends. Whenever the duo come together for any project, that film is sure to do wonders. Even earlier they have worked together on films such as Tamasha, Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal and all these movies were a super hit. Recently, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali took to Deepika Padukone’s website and penned down one of the first memories he had of the beautiful actress.

While writing about Deepika, Imtiaz Ali revealed that the first time he met Deepika, he wanted to offer her a role in Rockstar.  He wrote, "She got off the car at the hotel porch and looked at me. I immediately knew that this is the girl I have come to meet. She also immediately knew that I am the director she had come to meet because she had those eyes, that looked as if they know."

He also added, "None of Deepika's movies had released till then. I had come to meet her for Rockstar. I wanted her for Rockstar but the movie did not get made till many years later. I worked with her in other movies. Many things happened over many years at many places, all of which I might forget, but I will never forget the girl who stepped out of the car at the hotel and looked at me as if she knew."

While Imtiaz Ali’s first choice for Rockstar was Deepika Padukone, the role eventually went to Nargis Fakhri and it was the latter’s Bollywood debut. The film was eventually a hit and remains one of the best performances delivered by Ranbir Kapoor till date.

Imtiaz Ali recently wrapped up the shoot for his film Aaj Kal with Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan. The movie is a sequel of Love Aaj Kal and is set to release on February 14, 2020.
