The historic ancestral home of late Bollywood actors Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor which was called the 'Kapoor Haveli' and is currently situated in Pakistan. The two iconic stars were born in this mansion and having said that, the mansion itself makes it an iconic place for the generations to see. However, the house is said to be getting demolished threats as the current owner of the house wants to build a commercial complex. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the haveli is currently being owned by Haji Muhammad Israr, a wealthy jeweller and in 2018, the Pakistan government decided to convert the 'Kapoor Haveli' into a museum. They wanted to buy the haveli from Israr and wanted to conserve it in its original shape for the tourists.
However, the owner simply wanted to demolish the palatial house and wanted to build a huge commercial market. The reports also mentioned that he tried to do so quite a few times but couldn't make that happen. A statement was carried by the portal which read “I have sufficient money to cater to my needs. I supply around 3 to 4 maund (120kg-160kg) gold a week to the Peshawar biggest jewellery market.”
While they also carried a statement of Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, a resident of Dhaki Nalbandi who said, “It is a matter of concern that the ‘Kapoor Haveli’ which we consider as the pride of our city is in dilapidated condition and is fast heading to the disappearance because of being ignored."
The HT report also stated that in the early days, Rishi Kapoor and his brother Randhir Kapoor used to visit the Kapoor Haveli.
