Bollywood producer-filmmaker Karan Johar’s production banner, Dharma Productions and Lyca Productions were joining hands to back the Akshay Kumar starter Ram Setu. However, the deal was not sealed. Last month, it was reported that the collaboration failed. It was reported that the production giant Dharma is said to be looking for other partners such as Jio. Lyca productions has now been reported for default in their payment, to the producer of Ram Setu starring Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrrat Bharruccha.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, a trade source revealing the deets updated the said portal that Lyca was supposed to give out a certain amount in the total amount of Ram Setu, but this said payment never happened. Besides this, a cheque of Rs. 30 crore issued in the name of Akshay Kumar had bounced some 10 days back. Hence, the production banner is looking to partner with a new production house. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has denied any such cheque bounce to Bollywood Hungama, the actor also claimed this piece of information being incorrect.
A trade source was quoted saying by Bollywoodhungama, “Lyca Productions was to put in a certain amount of the total budget of Ram Setu, however the funding for the film never came through. A cheque of Rs. 30 crores issued to Akshay Kumar bounced around 10 days back. Since this affects the production of the film, the makers of Ram Setu are now on the lookout for a new production partner to replace Lyca Productions.”
