Rajkummar Rao is one of the most versatile actors of Bollywood, who has proven his skills with each and every project that he has undertaken. He has made his way to the top with his powerful acting skills. In an interaction with Arbaaz Khan on his chat show Pinch Season 2, the actor opened up about his film choices and spoke about why he changed his surname from Yadav to Rao.

Rajkummar shared, “In my earlier films, I never used my surname. But then it got me into a lot of confusion as there are many Rajkummar in our industry with Rajkumar Santoshi, Rajkumar Gupta and Rajkumar Hirani ji. I even used to get calls from people requesting a chance to assist me. I would question why do they want to assist an actor, but then I would realise that they were confusing me for one of these three directors,” he laughed, adding, “Yadav is my surname from Haryana, but then I thought Rajkummar Rao is a title given to the Yadavs in Haryana, so I just liked the sound of Rajkummar Rao.”

Rajkummar is one of the few actors who has been appreciated for his diverse film choices but even legends don’t get it right all the time. When Arbaaz read out comments on how people questioned the actor for his certain film choices, the actor admitted that there are a few films of his which even he isn’t that proud of and it would have been okay if he had not done those. “But now, I am trying to make a conscious effort to choose films that challenge me as an actor. You dedicate three-four months to a film and it should be worth it,” he said.

Talking about how he approaches his films and goes about them, Rajkummar revealed that he did Trapped for free. “Some movies are not meant just for Box-Office but are meant for life. After 50 years or so, when people discuss the top 10 films of Rajkummar Rao, they will talk about Trapped but they might not talk about my film with the biggest Box-Office success because it might not be as great. Some films are for box-office, some are for life, then there comes a film like Stree, which is for both. You just have to find your balance of what to do and when,” he maintained.
