Rajkumar Hirani's PK (2014) may have been a huge box-office hit, but the film, which questioned conventional religious ideas, raised a lot of controversies.
Now, Hirani himself has confessed that the Aamir Khan-starrer was a mistake.
Speaking at Mehboob Studio, on the sidelines of the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), he said, "In PK, our collective talents fell short. We tried and put in a lot of effort, but we went wrong and it didn't work well. PK is definitely not our best work."
The filmmaker said the movie's script also underwent many changes.
"Initially, we had written a draft that was similar to Leonardo Di Caprio-starrer, Inception (2010). When the Hollywood film released, we had to abandon that idea. We tried many more, but they were all boring. Then, OMG! Oh My God released in 2012. We wanted to say so much, but with a subject like religion, it could go either way. If we'd done too much, it would have become preachy," Hirani said.
