Rajinikanth was so impressed by Akshay Kumar that he said, “Akshay is the hero of the film, if I was given a choice I would have done Akki’s role,”
He also said that Akshay has done such brilliant work in the film that he will be industry’s biggest start after 2.0. Talking about the director of the film, he said, “Shankar is difficult to work with as he is a perfectionist,”
As Salman too graced the occasion, Rajini had few kind words for him too. When asked if he would do a sequel with Salman, Rajini said, " If Salman says Yes, I will happily do the film,"

Well, looks like this time Dr Vaseegaran is ready with world’s most sophisticated robot-Akshay looks unrecognizable.

Director of the film Shankar said, “Part One was like climbing Everest, this time it’s carrying Everest on my shoulder and crossing it ahead,”
2.0 is a science fiction film written and directed by S. Shankar. The film will feature Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
The soundtrack of the album will be composed by A. R. Rahman. Shankar held initial discussions with Kamal Haasan, Aamir Khan and then Vikram about portraying a further role; though none of the three actors signed on to appear in the film. Subsequently the team held talks with Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role, who agreed to work on the film for a record remuneration. The makers then opted against signing Schwarzenegger, though there have been conflicting reasons regarding this decision.
In late November 2015, Rajinikanth also travelled to Los Angeles to meet the film's producers and complete costume trials and initial motion capture technology work for the venture. After further negotiations with actors including Hrithik Roshan and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the makers signed on Akshay Kumar to portray the role in which Schwarzenegger was initially considered.
