Justice For Jeyaraj And Fenix: Rajinikanth Demands Severe Punishment For Police Officials Responsible For The Death Of Father-Son Duo

Father and son duo Jayaram and Fenix passed away last week due to alleged custodial torture in Sathankulam town in Thoothukudi. Ever since then, social media is abuzz demanding justice for the two. Many celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Janhvi Kapoor, and others condemned the act of police officials and demanded that justice should be served. Jeyaraj and Fenix were taken into custody for allegedly keeping their shop open beyond the curfew time during the lockdown. Now, it is superstar Rajinikanth who has spoken on the matter.

Rajinikanth on his Twitter handle issued a statement stating that the officials involved in this case should be severely punished. In the strongly-worded statement that he has shared, superstar wrote, "The manner in which a few police officials behaved with the magistrate has been very shocking. All the officials connected with the incident should be severely punished. They should not be spared." As per the reports, Rajinikanth even spoke to Jeyaraj’s wife over the phone last week.

As per the reports, the father-son duo was brutally tortured by the police while in the custody. Later they were taken to the hospital where they passed away. Fenix died at the Kovilpatti General Hospital on June 22, his father died on June 23.


From the South film industry, many celebrities have expressed grief and stated that justice needs to be done. Actor Suriya in a statement called Jeyaraj and Fenix's deaths 'organised crime'. He even blamed the magistrate and the doctors who were involved in this case.
