Actor Ashwath Bhatt, known for his roles in films like Raazi and Mission Majnu, recently shared a harrowing experience he had during a trip to Istanbul. In an interview with the Times of India, Bhatt recounted being attacked by a group of robbers while en route to a popular tourist spot, the Galata Tower. He revealed that the assailants not only attempted to rob him but also physically assaulted him.

Bhatt explained that he was on a short vacation in Istanbul, and despite his friends warning him about the presence of pickpockets, he did not anticipate such a violent encounter. The incident occurred as he was walking towards the Galata Tower when a man approached him holding a chain. "Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, he hit me on the back with it. It was likely a gang working in tandem, trying to snatch my bag," Bhatt recounted.

The situation took a surprising turn when Bhatt fought back against the attackers. A cab driver who witnessed the scene also came to his aid, which caused the robbers to flee. While Bhatt did report the incident to the local police, he noted that many such crimes go unreported, contributing to the rising crime rates at tourist spots. "I’ve been to the Middle East, Egypt, and so many parts of Europe, and nothing like this has ever happened to me," he lamented.

Although Bhatt informed the police about the attack, an official complaint had not yet been registered at the time of the interview. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and the need for increased security measures in tourist-heavy areas. Ashwath Bhatt is a seasoned actor and writer with a diverse filmography that includes notable films such as Raazi, Mission Majnu, Sita Ramam, Phantom, and Haider. Born in Srinagar to a Kashmiri Pandit family, Bhatt has had a distinguished career in the arts. He received a scholarship from the National School of Drama (NSD) in 2001 and graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2003. His journey from the scenic valleys of Kashmir to the global stage of cinema is a testament to his talent and dedication.

Despite the traumatic experience in Istanbul, Bhatt's resolve and courage in the face of danger reflect his indomitable spirit. His story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of travel and the importance of staying alert and prepared, even in seemingly safe environments.
