Priyanka Chopra's American primetime debut Quantico has run into legal trouble. The makers of the show have received a legal notice which states that the FBI thriller has been copied from a documentary titled Quantico: The Making Of An FBI Agent, which aired in 1999 on CNN.

Filmmakers Jamie Hellman and Barbara Leibovitz Hellman, and business executive Paula Paizes filed a 35-page complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday claiming that Quantico producer Mark Gordon stole the premise from their documentary.

Gordon and The Mark Gordon Company have been accused of:
1. Breach Of Contract
2. Breach Of Fiduciary Duty
3. Breach of Implied Covenant Of Good Faith and Fair Dealing
4. Breach Of Confidence

The lawsuit states that Paizes had formed a business relationship with Mark Gordon Company in 2001. After watching the documentary, Gordon had allegedly expressed interest in developing the project as a movie. The plaintiffs claim that in an e-mail exchanged in February 2003, the producer said that he "would be happy to discuss the idea".

However, according to the lawsuit, neither Gordon nor MGC made any further efforts to develop the Quantico project. The plaintiffs are now seeking a jury trial, actual and punitive damages.
