International sensation Priyanka Chopra has taken the social media by storm with her recent candid confessions. Not only has she spoken in length about being treated as an outsider despite being one of the most celebrated actors in Bollywood, she also opened up about being termed as a dusky actress. The actress, during the promotions of her upcoming web-show Citadel, opened up about her experiences as a dark-skinned actress.
The 40-year-old went on to express how being a fair-skinned actress guaranteed success and casting in the business, however if one was darker, they lightened them up. She recalled her time working in movies where her skin tone was made fairer “through make-up and then blasting lighting.” Sharing an anecdote from the film Kismat, co-starring Bobby Deol, she further added, “There was a song that I still remember. It was called Chitti Dudh Kudi which means a girl who is as white as milk and I ain’t that but I was playing her and I was really lightened up in the movie.”
On the work front, Priyanka is all set to make her web-series debut with the Russo Brothers' Citadel. Co-starring Richard Madden, the first season of the show will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 28, 2023. She has Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, Love Again and Ending Things in her pipeline.
