In a discussion with Bhumi Pednekar at a masterclass during the Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra delved into the responsibilities that come with appearing in female-oriented films, as well as her initial reactions when such films didn't perform as expected. Speaking to Deadline, PeeCee said, “There’s a lot of pressure when you have a female-led film, because we have so few, so when they don’t do well you feel the collective failure on behalf of all women.” She said that she used to feel like she has ‘taken women a few steps back’ or that she ‘let womankind down’, as she felt very few actresses get the opportunity to do such films. At the time, she received advice from numerous individuals, suggesting that actresses typically opt for female-centric films towards the end of their careers in pursuit of winning a National Award. Clearly, the actress defied those expectations, as her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion" not only earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress but also marked just the outset of her illustrious acting career.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra featured in Hollywood rom-com Love Again in which she shared the screen with Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. The Baywatch star also took on a leading role in the spy thriller series Citadel. Looking ahead, her next project is Heads Of State where the Bollywood diva stars alongside Idris Elba and John Cena.
