The coronavirus pandemic is no less than a nightmare for each and every one of us. Other than affecting and claiming so many lives, the deadly virus has also put its claw on all the markets. To stop the further spreading of it, various countries, including, India have announced lockdowns as a precautionary measure. One can also not avoid a streak of misconceptions and rumours that have taken over their Whatsapp and social networking feeds when it comes to coronavirus. To clear the same, global diva Priyanka Chopra, with hubby Nick Jonas, got in touch with WHO chiefs to address COVID-19.
The actress started the conversation by asking queries by the general population. The first question was by hubby Nick Jonas, who mentioned that he is type one diabetic, while Priyanka is an asthmatic and whether they should be more concerned about their health since coronavirus is more likely to enter people with pre-existing conditions. To which, Dr Maria said that the duo is doing right by staying at home and taking precautions; however, the ones with no pre-existing conditions should also be following the same.
Upon being asked if the virus spreads via air, Dr Maria said, “The virus is not airborne.” However, she added that it can spread through fomites, which keeps the virus stay on surfaces. She added that one won’t get it by simply touching an infected surface, provided they wash their hands frequently and follow all the guidelines.

Further, Priyanka quizzed if the virus can transmit amid higher temperatures, to which, Dr Maria revealed that it has been observed to spread in different climates, such as in China and Singapore and that there’s still no definitive answer to this doubt. As for the coronavirus’ vaccine, the research is still in progress and it will take around 12-18 months to develop one.
Well, we hope this clears some of your doubts!
