After the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, Deepika Padukone who also battled with depression at one point of her life decided to spread awareness about mental health and how important it is. Owing to this, Deepika has been urging people to understand the importance of mental health and helping everyone understand that ‘Depression is an illness, like any other illness.’ For the same, Deepika took the initiative to enlighten everyone about depression and even started sharing a series of posts about mental illness on her social media accounts, educating her fans and followers the same. However, this time the Chhapaak actress who is also a founder of The Live Love Laugh Foundation did a live session with a couple of doctors, talking about suicide and depression.
In this 48 minutes long video, we see Deepika in an online session, talking to the doctors, understanding the aspects of suicide. While taking it to her Instagram story, she said that she has embarked on this journey more than 5 years and referring to the recent tragic event, she made this video and wrote a post which read, “While I embarked on this journey more than 5 years ago, recent tragic events have made us all realise that now more than ever, we need to prioritise mental health & intensify our focus on #SuicidePrevention.” She also thanked the doctors like Dr Shyam Bhat and Dr Soumitra Pathare for talking to her and addressing some questions on 'Suicide: Why People Do. What They Do.'
Meanwhile, Deepika is not only enlightening people and spreading awareness about depression and suicide, she, in fact, shared a thought-provoking note when media portals were using the phrase ‘Sushant Singh Rajput passed away after committing suicide.’ She humbly told the media the difference, saying that people commit a crime and they don’t commit to suicide.
