Trust them to bounce back. The four talented filmmakers -- Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena and Anurag Kashyap -- are tying up their laces for the first assignment in their kitty after the (un)forgettable Bombay Velvet.

Their last effort Shaandaar didn't prove to be shaandaar at all, and this further sunk their chances to start another film immediately after. Their trusted hero Shahid Kapoor too ditched them, leaving Motwane's film SK Vs AK high and dry.

Jab koi saath nahin deta toh shaayad sirf Bhagwan hi saath deta hai. Aur kuch aisa hi hua. Phantom Films will remake Anil Kapoor-Amrita Singh-starrer Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986), which was directed by Basu Chatterjee -- a film which fared fairly average at the box-office due to its low cost, but won high critical acclaim.

The project will be a co-production with Deepak Mukut, who prefers to be a partner in the remake of films whose negatives belong to him. Mukut is the producer of Sanam Teri Kasam, which stars newbies and awaits release this year.

FYI, Shah Rukh Khan wanted to buy the rights of Chameli Ki Shaadi from Mukut --- but by then, he had already struck a deal with Phantom's money-handler Mantena (who produced Ghajini).

The director of the Chameli Ki Shaadi remake is yet to be finalised. Don't put your bets on Mantena, he is a finance expert and not a director. We guess, it will be someone from the Anurag-Vikas-Vikramaditya trio. Mukut is not ready to spill the beans on that yet.

So, did SRK make no purchase at all from Mukut? We are coming back in 60 minutes to tell you what King Khan has put in his pocket. And it's an exclusive Red Chillies buy.
