Actor Richa Chadha filed a defamation case recently against Bengali actress Payal Ghosh and a few others for ‘tarnishing her reputation’. This was after Payal Ghosh levelled sexual harassment allegations against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on social media and claimed in a video that other actresses like Richa got work from him in exchange of sexual favours. Now, during the Bombay High Court hearing in the Rs 1.1 Crore defamation case filed by actress Richa Chadha, as per reports, Ghosh’s lawyer said his client is ready to withdraw her statement made against the Fukrey actress.
India Today reported that during the hearing of Richa Chadha’s defamation case, Payal Ghosh’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute told the court that his client is ready to tender an apology and withdraw her statement. He said, “She is ready to settle the matter.” Ghosh’s lawyer earlier told the court that the statement made by his client was done ‘innocently’ and that she has a lot of respect for Chadha, to which Justice A K Menon asked if Payal was ready to issue an apology.
While Payal Ghosh is ready to withdraw her statement, yesterday, after the Bengali actress met with the NCW head Rekha Sharma, ANI quoted her calling Richa Chadha’s defamation suit ‘invalid’. She also said that she has nothing to do with the defamation case filed by Chadha.
