Release of Saand Ki Aankh trailer sparked several debates on the social media platform. Beginning with Neena Gupta’s tweet where she expressed the need for casting elder actresses for the older role on the screen. Later the veteran actress ended the social media war with her Apna Time Aayega post, but it doesn’t seem to be ending so soon. Actress Soni Razdan too joined in the bandwagon, expressing her disappointment towards the same. Now the latest one to join the debate is actress Parineeti Chopra who thinks otherwise and supports Taapsee and Bhumi who play the lead.

Luckily this time the actress found support in the ongoing debate from a senior journalist. The senior journalist gave an apt example by stating how roles played by actors Anushka Sharma, Aamir Khan,  Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar which were slightly older than their actual age as well as specially-abled, should have been played by the people actually experiencing it. Her Tweet read, “By the #SaandKiAankh debate- old people shud play old people. A paraplegic should’ve done Anusha’s role in Zero. A dwarf should’ve played SRK’s role. A Sikh man should’ve done Kesari. A badminton player should do the Saina Nehwal biopic & an acid victim shud do Chhapaak. Also...” To which Parineeti Chopra replied, “Thanks Sarita. Yes absolutely - we are actors and it's our privilege and job to mould ourselves into real-life personalities! #SainaNehwalBiopic @SaritaTanwar”

Ultimately film’s director Tushar Hiranandani too opened up on this ageism debate in an exclusive interview with SpotboyE.com. He was quoted saying, “Koi Hero Hota Toh Sab Very Good Bolte”

Saand Ki Aankh starring Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu will release on October 25, 2019.
