Good news for
Parineeti Chopra’s fans and a disappointing one for
Shraddha Kapoor’s followers. According to Mumbai Mirror, the latest update is that Shraddha will no longer play the role of
Saina Nehwal in the ace badminton player’s biopic. After training for the sport for months with coach and co-star, Eshan Naqvi, Shraddha has stepped out of the Bhushan Kumar production, citing scheduling conflicts.
Shraddha had shot for the film for a few scenes in September 2018, but she was soon diagnosed with dengue and the shooting had come to a stall. The film, being directed by
Amol Gupte, was supposed to go on floors again in April but now the latest reports suggest that it’s Parineeti who will essay the role.
Meanwhile Parineeti too is excited to come on-board. “It’s a part of my personality, but as an actress, one that I have not explored so far. I’m delighted to get an opportunity to portray a strong and powerful girl like Saina who put our country on the world map. I am excited to put in all the training and hard work that comes with learning the game and portraying Saina on screen,” gloated Parineeti.
Talking about Shraddha’s tight schedule, because of which the actress had to opt out of the film, well, Kapoor is currently shooting for the campus drama
Chhichhore and Street Dancer 3D, together. Her action thriller,
Saaho, with
Prabhas, is also lining up for an August release, and
then there’s Baaghi 3 with Tiger Shroff, expected to go on the floors in a few months.
“Despite everyone’s best efforts to accommodate the Saina biopic, dates were clashing, so it made sense for Shraddha to opt out. The decision was taken by mutual consent. Meanwhile, Parineeti loved the script and will start prep soon,” a source informed the leading tabloid. Well, now that Parineeti has stepped in to play Saina Nehwal- No 1 badminton champion with 24 international titles, we’re sure she has big responsibility to fulfil.
