A few minutes back, we told you how singer Shaan defended Papon in the kissing controversy but later deleted his tweet.
And now here’s another update. As per a report in leading daily, Mid-day, after the news of Papon, kissing a minor contestant from reality show The Voice Kids surfaced online, top officials of &TV (the channel that airs the show) had a three-hour meeting to decide the if the singer should now appear on the show as a judge.
Reportedly, the singer will skip the shoot of the show's next episode, scheduled for early next week. A source close to Papon revealed to the leading daily, "Only two episodes of the season are left to be shot. Papon will be skipping the shoot slated for Tuesday and Wednesday. They are supposed to film the season finale over the two days. Even if he hasn't been fired, in light of the incident, he'd want to excuse himself from the show."
For those coming late, a video on Papon's Facebook timeline showed him celebrating Holi with the contestants of The Voice India Kids, a show which the singer judges. He is seen applying gulal to one of the female contestants and then he kisses her, allegedly by force. The girl looks uncomfortable as Papon forcefully tries to kiss her on the lips.
Meanwhile, the girl's parents have refused to lodge a complaint against Papon, and instead issued a statement that said the singer is "a mentor and a father figure to my daughter, and has always encouraged her to pursue her dreams... What you saw in the video is not intentional. It was just a moment of affection that is being portrayed otherwise".
Coming to Papon continuing as a judge for the last two episodes on The Voice India Kids, well, as of now it looks unlikely.
