Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor starrer magnum-opus Padmavati has run into trouble again. Members of the Jai Rajputana Sangh have warned cinema halls and multiplexes in Jaipur against screening the film.

Members of the outfit have said that if Padmavati is released without being pre-screened to Rajput organisations, they will burn cinema halls and multiplexes screening the film.

“We won’t tolerate any distortion of history and if any romantic relationship is shown between queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, we will burn cinema halls screening the film,” said Bhanwar Singh Reta, founder of Jai Rajputana Sangh, which reportedly has 2.65 lakh members.

Earlier this year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was manhandled by the members of the Karni Sena, a Rajput organisation, in Jaipur while shooting Padmavati. They stalled the shoot and vandalised the set, alleging that the film distorted history.

The Sena then announced that they will continue the attacks until the filmmaker agrees to their demands. This development seems to have stemmed from rumours stating that the film includes a dream sequence where Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer, will get intimate with Rani Padmavati, played by Deepika.

The Rajput Karni Sena, had also sent out four diktats to SLB. The group had demanded that the title of the film be changed, any intimate scenes between Ranveer and Deepika be cut out of the script and no distortion of historical facts under the guise of creative liberty.

The trailer of Padmavati was released amid much fanfare and the performance of Shahid, Ranveer and Deepika was applauded by fans and members of the film fraternity
