Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has been running into trouble ever since the shooting of the film commenced. And looking at the current scenario, looks like this is going to continue for quite some time. The latest we hear is that massive protests broke out in parts of Surat and Mumbai yesterday where people gathered to condemn SLB’s Padmavati.

It is strange to see people reacting to a film that is yet to be released so strongly. Bhansali has initially made an official statement regarding the plot of the film when Karni Sena had attacked the sets of Padmavati in Jaipur. Yet again, the ace filmmaker released a video last week where he clarified again that there are no scenes between Alaudin Khilji and Rani Padmini in the film. But looks like these clarifications have fallen on deaf ears.

15 members of the Akhand Rajputana Seva Sangh were detained by the police in the city during the protest. According to Mansinh Rathod, who is leading the Gujarat chapter of ‘Karni Sena’, Bhansali has “distorted the historical facts in the movie.” “We have learnt that there is a dream sequence in the movie wherein ‘Rani Padmavati’ has been shown romancing with ’Allaudin Khilji’. We condemn such a heinous portrayal our queen. ‘Karni Sena’ will never allow such movie to hit the theatres,” Rathod said.

But not all seems to be negative for the filmmaker. Just last night, we told you that Bollywood’s directors are coming together to hold a press conference to express their solidarity towards Team Padmavati. The director’s meet is being organised by IFTDA and will be held today evening.

A Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, Padmavati is one of the biggest films of this year. The film’s trailer which released some time back, had Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini and Shahid Kapoor as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh nailing their characters and how!

The magnum opus brings together Shahid, Ranveer and Deepika on-screen for the first time.

Well, as of now situations seem bad. Let’s see if Padmavati makes it to the theatres on December 1.
