MK Vishvaraj Singh, a royal member of Udaipur's Mewar, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi and others, requesting them to withhold the certification and release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati.

At last, Singh will get to see Padmavati, which he believes is controversial. It will be interesting to see what will be his reaction after seeing the film.

CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi has extended the invitation for the same, and also received a letter of thanksgiving from Singh.

Here is the letter:

Dear Mr. Joshi,

Thank you for your call this morning in acknowledgement of my letter of December 21, 2017. You had informed me that some of the contents of my letter were within and others beyond the purview of the Central Board of Film Certification and suggested we meet to discuss matters beforeDecember 27 when I could view the film as a part of the proposed Committee.

You were also kind enough to explain to me that the film could be altered by the makers even after the submission of the application for certification as long as this alteration was done prior to the date on which the film is viewed by the Board. I am trying to be return to Mumbai towards the end of the coming week and will be happy to meet you on my return. However, I have very strong reservations about seeing the film as to my mind it will open a pandora’s box of new and pointless discussions.

Owing to the manner in which the film’s production has progressed from its very inception and seeing to how related matters have developed, I would insist on a formal clarification of the points raised by me before I make a decision regarding being on the Committee. Above all, the fact remains that my questions are relevant for every member of the proposed Committee and without resolving the same, the Committee’s findings shall remain a mirage.

I cannot help but observe that all this extra effort is going into presenting a product that has been discredited and one that from the very beginning only exemplifies an unprofessional and unethical style of functioning.

Thanking you
Yours sincerely,

M.K. VISHVARAJ SINGH OF UDAIPUR - MEWAR

Padmavati was scheduled to release on December 5, the next date being touted is Valentines’ weekend. Let’s see what happens after this screening.
