Shahid Kapoor's
first poster from his upcoming film Padmavati has been released. He will play
King of Chittor and Rani Padmini’s husband Maharawal Ratan Singh.
Shahid posted,
"महारावल रतन सिंह.
साहस, सामर्थ्य और सम्मान का प्रतीक. #Padmavati @FilmPadmavati
#MahaRawalRatanSingh"
Talking about his look in ‘Padmavati’, Shahid Kapoor told a section of media, “When you are playing a King, you need to have a certain personality. At that time, the people used to not be very skinny and lean, so you need to have a manly personality. Basically for that, and to carry those outfits also, Sanjay sir wants me to be a little muscular and a little full. But I will be gaining weight in terms of muscle and not in terms of fat. This is because I am playing the character of a warrior. The Rajput kings had very strong personalities.”
With
just the first poster, one can understand that this is yet another magnum opus
by Bhansali. The look and feel of the poster is very rich.
The film has been in a lot of controversy since
the time of its filming. The sets were attacked in Jaipur and Kolhapur
by Karni Sena activists. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was physically
manhandled. While his team tried to protect SLB, a blow landed straight
on the cowering, unarmed, filmmaker. A lot of Bollywood celebs condemned the
attack and the incidence became a major issue at that time. Celebrities like
Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar took to social media to
express their anger. Bhansali
had even issued an official statement condemning the attack and said it was
uncalled for.
Padmavati, which also stars Deepika Padukone
and Ranveer Singh as Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji respectively, is
set to hit theatres on December 1, 2017
