The lead stars of Yash Raj Films’ Sui Dhaaga, Varun
Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are leaving no stone unturned to essay their
respective characters of a tailor and an embroidery artist to perfection. The
two even took sewing lessons ahead of the shoot.
Now, reports suggest that Varun Dhawan suffered an injury
on-set in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The actor was performing a
stunt without the aid of a body double.
A unit hand told mid-day that the scene in question sees
Varun’s character Mauji engage in a street brawl and subsequently roll down a
flight of stairs. While director Sharat Katariya wanted a body double to
perform the stunt, the actor insisted on doing the sequence himself.
The source added, "The director clearly told Varun
of the risk involved in the scene and tried to dissuade him from attempting the
stunt. But Varun was adamant. Unfortunately, while filming, one of the steps in
the staircase gave way and in the process, he sustained injuries on his head,
including a gash on the forehead."
Naturally, the shoot was halted for a few hours as the
actor needed urgent medical attention. "The doctor assured Sharat, Anushka
and the crew that Varun's injuries were minor, but recommended bed rest to the
actor for the day. However, Varun resumed shooting after resting for a few
hours as he didn't want to delay the schedule in any way," the unit hand
further told the tabloid.
Meanwhile, Varun-Anushka’s first look from Sui
Dhaaga released last month and got everyone talking.
Sui Dhaaga - Made in India is slated to release
on September 28, 2018.
