Early this morning, the 90th Academy Awards paid tribute to the late legendary actors Sridevi (who passed away on February 24,2018) and Shashi Kapoor (who left for the heavenly abode on December 4, 2017). Lead vocalist of Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder took to stage to pay tribute to the Bollywood late superstars.
He performed Tom Petty’s Room At The Top during In Memoriam montage.
Sridevi passed away on February 2018 due to accidental drowning in Dubai. Her final rites took place on February 28. The late superstar received Guard Of Honour draped in national flag by the Mumbai Police. A deluge of stars paid tributes and bid goodbye to the first female superstar of Bollywood. Stars including Hema Malini, Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Jacqueline Fernandez, Madhuri Dixit, Arbaaz Khan, Ajay Devgn and Kajol attended the first female superstar’s prayer meet.
Shashi Kapoor passed away due to prolonged illness at Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The legend was also honoured with a 3-gun salute by the government as he was a Padma Shree. He was known for his roles in movies like Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973), Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978) and many others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also had expressed his grief over the death of the superstars.
