Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is all set to bring forward fresh talents with her upcoming movie. Ever since the trailer of the movie was released, fans and netizens have taken to social media to share their opinions about the trailer. In the midst of all the ongoing nepotism debate and the media writing stories around the star kids Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor, she recently opened up about having second thoughts while casting them.
In a recent interview with India Today, she spoke about how she had second thoughts on casting the star kids in her movie. She explained how that thought had occurred to her but she quickly dismissed it because they suited the characters. She went on to add how people will like, dislike or even love the movie regardless if it has star kids or not. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, she went on to add, “It would be very weird if I did not cast them. It is weird to not cast someone because they are not famous, but it is equally weird to not cast someone because their parents are famous. I mean you have to just go with merit.”
For the unversed, netizens have been eagerly waiting to see Suhana, Agastya and Khushi’s performance in the film considering they hail from very influential families. While Suhana is Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Agastya is veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan’s grandson and Abhishek Bachchan’s nephew. Khushi is later actress Sridevi’s daughter, all of whom have made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry with their stellar performances.
Talking about the Netflix release, it follows the journey of popular fictional characters Archie (played by Agastya), Betty (played by Khushi), Veronica (played by Suhana), Jughead (played by Mihir Ahuja), Reggie (played by Vedang Raina), Ethel (played by Dot) and Dilton (played by Yuvraj Menda). Set in the 1960s, the teenagers navigate romance and friendship in their lives all the while fighting for the future of their town Riverdale.
