In the time of its existence Indian entertainment industry has seen a lot of gender disparities. One of which is, while actors in the 50s and 60s romance actresses in their early to mid 20s, actresses who cross the threshold of 40s are immediately given side character or mother roles and sometimes even completely forgotten. Owing to the same in 2017, Neena Gupta took a bold step when she put out a social media post asking for work. However, Sarika in a recent interview disagreed with the notion that she opened doors for other senior actresses to get work.

Talking about her views of her Uunchai co-star opening up a career opportunity for older female actors, Sarika said that it was Neena’s individual story. She hailed the actress for putting herself out there. Quoted by Indian Express, during an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, the 62-year-old actress said, “I think it’s Neena ji’s individual story but it was not as if actors were not getting roles. It is her individual story that she started getting so much work which is amazing and it’s brilliant that she went and put herself out and said, ‘I want work’. Then she got work because she is a good actor, it’s brilliant. But I don’t think it is that that opened for everybody.” ALSO READ: Sarika On Senior Actors INSULTING Her For Not Applying Makeup In 'Griha Pravesh': 'Yeh Aise Heroine Thodi Na Hoti Hai’

She further praised actresses Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha for doing great roles in the Bollywood movies and series. She went on to say, “I think Shefali has been doing great work. There are so many good actresses who have been working. I love Sheeba. I just love Sheeba's work. We worked together in Parzania also. Now when I see her work, it is amazing. So, I don't think Neena ji opened the gate for all other actresses, it was in her case that she did something which was praiseworthy.” ALSO READ: Neena Gupta Opens Up About Having Daughter Masaba Without Marrying: 'I Suffered, Endured, I Could Have Wasted My Life Crying’
