As per the latest reports, the Indore district court has issued an arrest warrant against former actor and film critic Kamal Rashid Khan aka KRK in connection to the defamation case filed against him by Manoj Bajpayee. The warrant was issued after KRK failed to appear in the court. For the unversed, Bajpayee had filed a case against Khan last year after he called him a ‘drug addict’ in a series of derogatory tweets.

On Thursday, KRK remained absent during the hearing so the Judicial Magistrate First Class issued an arrest warrant against him. The next hearing of the case will take place on May 10.  Earlier, the court had passed bailable warrants against Khan for remaining absent. In his application, Manoj Bajpayee claimed that KRK is very much aware of the case filed against him but he is not appearing intentionally to cause delay. Manoj filed a criminal complaint against Kamaal R Khan for tarnishing his image and reputation in public. A case under section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was filed against KRK at the direction of the Indore district court.

Earlier, KRK’s lawyer moved to Supreme Court and demanded the action against him should have stayed, but, the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected Khan’s plea seeking that the defamation case be quashed. His lawyer mentioned in the court that the self-proclaimed film critic has never intentionally tweeted anything against Bajpayee.
