As the buzz around the news cooled down a bit, a video of the actor refuting the divorce rumours surfaced on the internet.
Well, the video surely created confusion among the netizens. In the video, that went viral, Abhishek is seen showing off his wedding ring and shutting down the divorce rumours. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, the 48-year-old actor, while flaunting his ring, said, “I don't have anything to say to you all about that. You all have blown the entire thing out of proportion, sadly. I understand, why you do it. You have to file some stories. It's okay, we're celebrities, we have to take it. Still married, sorry.” The media publication, after doing research figured out that the clip was from 8 years ago. Yes, you read that right! The now-viral clip was from the premiere of his wife’s 2016 film Sarbjit. The clip certainly created confusion among the netizens who have been speculating about the reason behind the downfall of their marriage.
The rumours of trouble brewing within the Bachchan family started resurfacing in when Aishwarya turned 50. She was seen celebrating the occasion with her mother and daughter without her husband or his family. However, the speculations were dismissed when she shared a family photo on Instagram, wishing Abhishek on his birthday. While they continued to make joint appearances at Aaradhya’s school event and The Archies screening, reports of their separation often surfaced on the internet.
To further the rumours, Abhishek arrived at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding with his parents and sister Shweta Bachchan’s family, and Aishwarya and their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan arrived separately. If rumours are to be believed, while they were seated together during the wedding ceremony, they didn’t interact much.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2. The actress is yet to announce her next project.
