Okay, we thought all was finally well with the Azhar biopic. After months of scouting for the right actress, director Tony D’Souza and Ekta Kapoor found their Sangeeta Bijlani in Nargis Fakhri.
But now, the Emraan Hashmi starrer, which was initially meant to go on floors on May 1, has hit another roadblock.
Nimrat Kaur, who was to play the lawyer in the film, has walked out of the project. This, when the film is going to roll onJuly 21.
Now, Ekta and Tony are back to square one. They are desperately looking for someone to fill in her shoes.
The character plays an integral part in the narrative as the lawyer is shown defending the cricketer in his match-fixing scandal.
So why exactly did Nimrat leave the project?
A source told SpotboyE.com, “They were in talks since the past several months and she had given them a verbal commitment. However, she has opted out because she was not happy with the script. The film is entirely from the cricketers perspective, so she felt that the narrative was too linear.”
