While fans are going beserk about fashionista, Sonam
Kapoor’s wedding, the diva has finally opened up about it to a leading
publication, The National.
Well yes, Sonam has shared her thoughts on how she
pictures her wedding.
Sonam said, “I think the whole idea of a marriage is more
appealing to me than a wedding. I think there is too much money spent; it’s all
very crass, and I would rather give that money away. I’d rather have a wedding
at home than anywhere else. I think it’s important to do all the rituals, but I
don’t believe in spending all that money, I find it disgusting and very
wasteful, and I’m not okay with that at all.”
Sonam is set to tie the knot on May 8 in Mumbai
with beau Anand Ahuja.
After much back & forth, Sonam’s wedding is finally
happening in Aamchi Mumbai. Destinations like Geneva, Montreux were earlier in
speculations.
In fact, SpotboyE told you why Kapoors shift the wedding
from Montreux to Mumbai.
The family had initially spoken to a resort in Montreux
for booking it for Sonam’s functions and the officials at the resort agreed in
principle.
However, weeks passed and when Kapoors went back to the
resort to make payments, unfortunately, they were informed that a Saudi
princess has already booked the place and now no rooms or banquets were
available.
Our sources reveal that Rhea and Sonam then went to the
higher authorities of the resort to get maximum number of rooms for latter’s
wedding. In fact, Kapoor sisters also said that actress’ wedding can get the hotel
a lot of limelight and publicity. But the authorities refused and said their
policy is first come first serve and since the Saudi princess paid and blocked
the resort first, they can't cancel her booking.
And now, finally Anil Kapoor's daughter, Sonam’s wedding
is happening on May 7(Sangeet) followed by reception on May 8 for
which the 5-star The Leela (Andheri) has been booked.
Coming to Sonam’s comment on lavish weddings, we wonder
if this was also one of the reasons why the wedding was shifted to Mumbai.
