The convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case are scheduled to be hanged on March 20, that is, tomorrow. Their execution has been delayed many times, either by the convicts filing mercy petitions, or recently, with the wife of one of the convicts, Akshay Thakur filing a divorce petition. On March 18, two days before the scheduled execution, Puneeta Devi had filed for divorce oration, reportedly saying that she didn’t wish to live with the label of being a ‘rapist’s widow’. With the repeated delay in the execution of Nirbhaya rapists, Bollywood actresses Raveena Tandon and Preity Zinta are furious and have raised their voice against it on social media.

According to NDTV, the wife of the convict filed for a divorce in a local court in Bihar's Aurangabad. Raveena Tandon slammed her  and expressed her outrage on Twitter, calling it ‘super smart delaying tactics.’ She tweeted, “Wow ! That is super smart delaying tactics. This is called taking the judiciary for a grand ride !!!! #nayadrama why the hell didn’t she divorce him when he was about raping and brutally murdering ?” Preity Zinta also expressed her fury about rapists still getting to appeal and live. She also stated that Nirbhaya rapists should’ve been shot 8 years ago.

Preity Zinta tweeted, “Thanks 2R outdated Legal system & in the name of human rights these inhuman rapists still get 2appeal & live 8yrs after committing unimaginable crimes. Is this justice? They should have been shot 8years ago. My heart goes out2 Asha Devi & family.#NirbhayaCase #Sad.” Take a look at the tweets:

As of now, the four men convicted of Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder, Mukesh Singh, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta, and Vinay Sharma, are scheduled to be hanged at 5:30 am on March 20. All four convicts have exhausted their legal and constitutional remedies, by filing the mercy petitions, which have been rejected.
