On Monday, the Hindi film industry suffered a big loss when casting director, Seher Aly Latif, who had casted the 2013 film The Lunchbox featuring the late Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest, as reported by news agency PTI. She was admitted to Lilavati Hospital eight days before her demise due to renal failure.
Seher had also dabbled into production in the past few years as she was the executive producer on films like Akshay Kumar’s Gold and Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi, and she produced the 2020 Netflix film Maska and also the web show, Bhaag Beanie Bhaag for the platform, featuring Swara Bhaskar.
Actress Nikita Dutta, who was part of two projects with Seher, laments the loss that she and the whole industry has suffered. “This is very fresh right now but she was an amazing human being. I had worked with her on Gold and Maska, and she was my front right producer in the latter. Producers can sometimes get on your nerves but Seher has been the most adorable character that I have ever come across. It is quite difficult to express how I feel as it is still very fresh in my mind. All I’ll say is that she was a really amazing soul,” she shares.
Ask Nikita about some memories that she shared with Seher while working with her, and she responds, “I have no bad memories with her, rather I have some special and funny moments that I shared with her. She and I used to love hugging each other and I miss her mushy hugs and the smile that she used to have even in the most stressful situations. That’s how I now remember her in my memory.”
