Vikrant Massey received flak on Twitter after he tweeted about the postponement of Parliament session. Vikrant Tweet was a reaction to the reports of the second reading of five Bills, including the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) 2020 Bill, being postponed to the next Parliament session in 2021. The Chhapaak actor’s Tweet backfired when netizens labelled him as a misogynist. In his Tweet, he called parliament members ‘Dainty little princesses'.
Vikrant Massey got slammed when he wrote, “We can have massive election rallies, a brief Monsoon session during the peak, but no Winter session...Why? Cos we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Dainty little princesses!!!,” Commenting on his Tweet a user called him misogynist and said, “You could condemn this government's cowardice and not be a misogynist at the same time. Try that, it's not that difficult.”
Replying to the netizen, Vikrant then said, “Misogyny??? Cos I called them dainty princesses? Like seriously? I guess we can calm a bit down generally and get the gist of what I’m saying,” “Guys! Just take it easy. That is not what I meant. I would never. Apologies if offended anybody. At the same time, thank you for restoring my belief that Twitter is a shit-hole. Thank you. Have a good evening,” read his another Tweet.
After receiving endless backlash, Vikrant then takes to Twitter to render an apology to everyone who found his Tweet, ‘misogynistic’. In the sarcastic Tweet, Vikrant wrote, “To all the wonderful souls out there who found my previous tweet “misogynistic” I SINCERELY APOLOGISE as it was never the intention. Meanwhile thank you for restoring my faith that Twitter is a shit-hole & misinterpreting something, said by someone you don’t even know.”
