August 7 is observed as National Handloom Day and we all know about Bollywood beauties and their fondness towards various fabrics, making them look fabulous over the period of years on the screen as well as off-screen.  From Benarasi to Kanjeevaram sarees, almost all Bollywood beauties have adorned it someday or the other and have raved and flaunted work crafted by our handloom weavers. Thus, on this day to celebrate the craft of our handloom weavers and generate more awareness about it Bollywood beauty Karisma Kapoor did her bit.

The actress has looked and continues to flaunt her hour-glass figure in sarees on several occasions. Sharing an image on her Instagram handle, draped in a saree from the movie Biwi No. 1, she wrote, “My love for the saree 🧡 and Indian handloom started from this film 🎥 Any guesses ?? #nationalhandloomday2019 #saree #india #indianwear #indianhandloom #indianweaves” In this movie which co-starred Salman Khan opposite her, we saw Lolo sporting a saree throughout. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Tabu and Sushmita Sen.

Yet another actress who spoke about Handloom exclusively to SpotBoyE.com is Judgementall Hai Kya actress Kangana Ranaut. The diva has impressed us for many years now by opting for sarees for her several outings. She said, “We can save thousand years old craft by being conscious and considerate. I always try and promote the ancient art of handicrafts on Indian and as well as on the International scale. But, It’s sad that a style that describes India and its richness is dying and the weavers are committing suicide due to poverty and lack of jobs.”

In 2015 PM Narendra Modi brought in the first National Handloom Day at the centenary on Madras University located in Chennai, to create awareness about handloom.
