The National Film Awards 2019 took place today in New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan. The Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu presented the awards to the winners in the presence of Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting. Bollywood celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Surekha Sikri were present at the prestigious award ceremony to receive the honours. Produced under Priyanka Chopra’s home production, Marathi film Paani, too won an award, and the actress is overjoyed, despite not being able to make it to the ceremony.
Priyanka Chopra took to her social media to share how thrilled she is as Paani won Best Film on Environment Conservation. Priyanka produced the film under her home production Purple Pebble Pictures and expressed her happiness. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Such an honour to recieve the prestigious #NationalFilmAwards for #Paani (Best Film on Environment Conservation / Preservation). I cannot believe I wasn’t there to recieve this! Thank u @adinathkothare for making such a wonderful movie for us & receiving the award on our behalf.” She also shared the video from the award ceremony. Another tweet of hers read, “.. This was a passion project for us all, tackling a very important subject and I’m grateful for all the love and support we’ve received for it.”
