Nagesh Kukunoor is known for bringing out the subtlety of human emotions via his scripts. Hyderabad Blues (1998), Rockford (1999), 3 Deewarein (2003), Iqbal (2005), Dor (2006), Aashayein (2010), Lakshmi (2014), Dhanak (2016) - all of them showcase this aspect of Kukunoor's direction.

Talking about why he opted for Supriya Sharma to direct the shortie Dhvani in the Shor Se Shuruaat anthology, he is all praise for her. Nahesh opens up about how his 'inner director' used to come out every time he and Supriya had the initial discussions on the script of Dhvani. However, he managed to make himself understand that he was just mentoring and it was always going to be Supriya's film.

Well, that sort of level-headed mindset comes from years and years of being in the film industry.

Dhvani is about the last few days of a man's life who has been living in solitary confinement, and is all set to be hanged till death. Does he regret having committed the crime now? Does he have any last wish? Well, only watching the film would answer all these questions.

Talking about the content of Supriya’s film, Nagesh reveals that he is pretty sure that the final outcome is a lot in the real-life space, much more than being arty or commercial.
When asked about the other 6 mentors - Zoya Akhtar, Homi Adajania, Shyam Benegal, Mira Nair, Imtiaz Ali, Sriram Raghavan - Nagesh opened up saying he was really excited that such kind of diverse directorial sensibilities were brought on by the esteemed directors in the panel.

Shor Se Shuruaat will also feature other short films like Mia I'm, Decibel, Azaad, Yellow Tin Can Telephone, Hell O Hello and Aamer - all made under the common theme of 'Shor' (Noise).

Produced by Preety Ali, Vinay Mishra and Pallavi Rohatgi under the banner of Humara Movie, Shor Se Shuruaat hits theatres worldwide this Friday
