1987’s Mr. India starring Anil Kapoor and the late Sridevi is considered as one of the most cult classic films that Bollywood has ever produced. Well, let’s not forget the iconic Mogambo, the vicious character of which was portrayed by the late Amrish Puri and is among one of the most admired villains. Fast forward to now, a spin-off to this legendary film is on cards with Ali Abbas Zafar and will soon make it the OTT platform of ZEE5. While there hasn’t been any cast reveal as of now, rumours are rife that Ranveer Singh will be seen in the lead role.
In fact, if a report in Pinkvilla is anything to go by, Ranveer Singh has even shot for a short teaser of Mr. India 2 and it was slated to be unveiled on January 26, 2020. However, things didn’t go as materialised and it has been delayed. The report stated that the teaser of Mr. India 2 features Ranveer Singh in the lead and concludes with him saying the popular, “Mogambo khush hua,” dialogue on a black screen. Exciting news, isn’t it?
A source close to the film’s production told the portal that Boney Kapoor has sold the negative rights of this spin-off to Zee and when he came across the news of this teaser, he requested the makers to put it on hold for some time. As per Pinkvilla, Boney Kapoor has requested Zee to credit him as the co-producer of Mr. India 2. Well, we can’t wait to get our hands on the teaser, if this one’s true!
