Soon after Ali Abbas Zafar announced his digital venture based on Bollywood’s hit flick Mr. India in collaboration with Zee 5, a lot of debates erupted on the social media platforms. With Sonam Kapoor, director of film Shekhar Kapur and producer Boney Kapoor being upset with this project’s announcement being made without their concern, it seems Anil Kapoor is not very happy with this news. Director Shekhar Kapur in conversation with a leading daily revealed the same.

In conversation with Mid Day, the director was quoted saying, “[When I questioned him], he (Boney) said nothing is set in stone. Anil was equally disturbed that he didn’t know about it. It’s time to have a serious legal discussion here to reinterpret the copyright act so that it accords authorship of a film to the principal director. This is not directed at Boney, or the current director, or Zee Studios. It is directed at the act itself.” Seems like there will soon be a legal battle between the creators.

Shekhar in his interview with the tabloid also mentioned taking the legal route to sort out a solution to this ongoing issue. Expressing his disappointment regarding the same, he had tweeted, “No one has even asked me or mentioned to me about this film called Mr India 2. I can only guess that they using the title to get a big weekend. For they cannot use the characters/story without permission from the original creators of the film.”

Also, two big names of the industry are attached to this project which includes Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh. Both the actors were speculated to step into the role of the iconic villain Mogambo played by late actor Amrish Puri for the reboot version. Reportedly SRK turned down the offer to reprise this role, and Ranveer Singh was got on-board.
