Mr India 2: After Sonam Kapoor, Shekhar Kapur Blasts Makers, ‘Can’t Use The Story Without Seeking Permission From Original Creators’

Since a long time now, there have been speculations that Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar is planning a film called Mr India. Just recently, the director announced his next project Mr India which will be a trilogy and shared that no actor has been confirmed to play the lead role in his film. Since then, Sonam Kapoor blasted the filmmaker for making the film as it’s her father Anil Kapoor’s legacy. Now, the original Mr India director Shekhar Kapur took to his social media to express his disappointment.

Mr India director Shehkar Kapur took to his Twitter to talk about the new Ali Abbas Zafar film in the make. He tweeted, “No one has even asked me or mentioned to me about this film called Mr India 2.  I can only guess that they using the title to get a big weekend. For they cannot use the characters/story without permission from the original creators of the film.” In his tweet, the Mr India director confirmed that no one has even asked him or mentioned anything about the film called Mr India 2.

Accusing the makers of using the title, Shekhar Kapur went on to share that he can only guess that the makers are using the title to get a big weekend. The miffed filmmaker then added that they cannot use the characters or story with permission from the original creators of the film. Shekhar Kapur this tweet came after a user on social media expressed how making the film was a ‘bad idea’. On the other hand, the user asked Kapur to look into the matter and mentioned that the film should not be made for its cult classic status.


Meanwhile, the 1987 film Mr India starred Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri in lead roles and is treat to watch always. As many fans and the makers of the original film are upset over the new film, Shah Rukh Khan who was approached for a role in the film dropped down the offer
