Mithun Chakraborty had been shooting for Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Kashmir Files in Mussoorie since November. According to a report on the Internet, the veteran actor collapsed on the set of his film while shooting an outdoor scene on Saturday. Mid-Day reports that the shoot came to an abrupt halt after Mithun Chakraborty complained of ill-health. Vivek Agnihotri informed that Mithun Chakraborty had a terrible bout of food poisoning, and he was unable to stand. However, he insisted on wrapping up the sequence.

While director Vivek Agnihotri was worried and wanted to immediately pack up for the day, Mithun Chakraborty insisted on going on with the shoot and completing the sequence. Vivek Agnihotri told Mid-Day, “It was an action scene, mounted on a big scale, and everything was centered on Mithun sir's character. He had a terrible bout of food poisoning and was unable to even stand. After taking a brief break, he finished the sequence.” He further said that Mithun Chakraborty told him that he never fell ill on set in his four-decade-plus career, and he didn’t think the shoot should be halted.

Once Mithun Chakraborty completed his shot, the unit packed up for the day and he was asked to take adequate rest. “When he returned to the set on Sunday morning, he ensured that he made up for the backlog," said Vivek Agnihotri.

The Kashmir Files is based on the genocide and mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Apart from Mithun Chakraborty, the film also features Anupam Kher and Puneet Issar among others.
