Mika Singh Faces A Ban In The Indian Film Industry After Singer Performs At A Wedding In Karachi

All India Cine Workers Association has banned and boycotted pop singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry after the singer performed in Karachi amidst tension between India and Pakistan

Bollywood  pop singer Mika Singh recently performed in Karachi, Pakistan and the singer was also captured singing at the wedding festivities of the daughter of former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf's close relative. Ever since the video of Mika Singh’s performance in Karachi went viral on social media, it sparked an outrage among netizens and Mika faced severe backlash for his decision. Now a few days later, the singer has been banned by AICWA.

The  film body All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement on Tuesday which said that it had had boycotted the singer’s association with the film production houses, music companies and online music content providers. The association said that it will make sure  no one in India works with the singer and that anyone who violates their will face legal consequences in the court of law. AICWA also requested Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to intervene in the matter. Read the full statement here:


Mika Singh, known for his hit songs like Jumme Ki Raat and Aankh Maare was invited to perform at the wedding festivities along with a crew of 14 people. His performance came right after Indian government repealed Article 370, which revoked the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir. Post which Pakistan banned Indian films and cultural content. Amid the mounting tensions, Mika’s decision to perform at the wedding in Pakistan evoked a lot of outrage by his fans and they took to Twitter to express their feelings. Certain reports suggest that the pop singer charged 15000 USD (Rs. 1.06 crore approx) for the performance.
