Masaba-Madhu Mantena’s Divorce Came As A "Big Shock" To Neena Gupta

 In August last year, Neena Gupta’s daughter Masaba announced her separation with husband Madhu Mantena. Taking to social media, the fashion designer had posted a heartfelt note announcing their trial separation. During the promotional interviews of Badhaai Ho, we got a chance to meet the entire cast of the film. Back then, we had asked Neena Gupta about her daughter’s separation and she had said, “Yaar, pata hota toh baat hi kya thi. Yeh toh bhagwaan hi jaante hai, aur sirf wohi jaante hain. I really don’t know what will happen.”

Now, in March, Masaba and Madhu filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court and the latter had also confirmed the same to SpotboyE.com. Recently, in a conversation with Rajeev Masand on his chat show, Women We Love, Neena was asked about her daughter’s decision. The Badhaai Ho actress stated that it came as a big shock to her.


She said “Like a normal mother, I said don't take any decision in a rush. Think about it because me and my husband both loved Madhu and still love him. He's a very nice man and we still love him. But... nahi bana toh nahi bana...Humne bola socho isko, aisa nahi hai ki immediate decision liya, they thought about it. It was a very big shock to me."


Announcing their separation, Masaba had written, “To our family, friends, acquaintances. With a lot of sadness, Madhu and I have decided to go on a trial separation in our marriage. Both of us have taken this decision after consulting professionals and our parents. The only thing we are ready to say for now is that ‘What we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on our marriage and love that we share.”

“Hence we would like to take some time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life. We also want to say that this is a tough time for us and we want to really protect our privacy at this time. We still hope to find reconciliation in our individual paths and dreams and hence this privacy is important for us for now,” the statement read further.
