Rani Mukerji is currently shooting in the blistering summer heat of Rajasthan. It is an action packed month-long schedule for Rani in the desert state as she chases and looks to hunt down the cruel and merciless villain of the film. Rani shot a chase sequence under the scorching sun on a day the temperature was 42 degrees!
“The temperature in Kota is over 40 degree now and within a few days, it will cross 43 degrees. It is an extremely difficult shooting schedule especially since we are shooting in the middle of the day under the beating summer sun of Rajasthan. All the scenes have Rani investigating and looking for this heinous criminal and we also shot a chase sequence in one of the hottest days in Kota,” informs a production source.
“It was a long chase sequence in this boiling heat and we wanted to wrap this shot in one take. Rani is known to nail most scenes in one take and she did the same on this occasion too but since it was a chase sequence, she insisted that we shoot it a couple of times so that we have variations of the shot. It was hot and we could see she was getting dehydrated but she nailed each take. The entire crew got really motivated seeing her level of commitment. The shooting team is not used to this heat and Rani’s commitment really got the entire team going,” the source adds.
Rani reprises the role of the fearless and committed Superintendent of Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2. She had delivered an outstanding performance in the superhit and hugely acclaimed prequel, Mardaani, in which she took on the kingpin of a child trafficking racket. Hence, there is a lot of anticipation on who her villain will be in the sequel. Produced by Aditya Chopra, this will be Rani’s next release after the global blockbuster Hichki. Mardaani 2 marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, the writer of the first Mardaani film.
