And she’s here!
Rani Mukerji has begun shooting for the 2nd instalment of Mardaani franchise. The first part, which revolved around child trafficking, released in 2014 while it's sequel was announced in December, last year.
This morning, makers of Mardaani 2 took to social media and shared the first look of Rani Mukerji aka Senior Inspector of the Mumbai Crime Branch, Shivani Shivaji Roy. They shared a picture of the talented actress, dressed in a crisp white shirt, amidst a shot, and captioned it as, “#RaniMukerji starts shooting for #Mardaani2 | @Mardaani2”
Meanwhile, a source close to the makers has told Hindustan Times, “In the sequel, Rani will be locked in a vicious battle with a 21-year old villain, who is absolutely merciless. There is going to be a smart cat-and-mouse game with a very clever villain.”
Earlier, when the sequel was announced in December, Rani while talking to a leading daily, had said, "Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to all of them. Gopi has written an extraordinary script and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon." She had added, "Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain, who has no empathy, no fear of God and who is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out which actor will play the antagonist." So, are you excited to see Rani back in action?
