Manushi Chhillar is back! The Miss World 2017 arrived in
Mumbai late last night amidst heavy security and much fanfare. The beauty queen
had a number of well-wishes waiting and was welcomed with a traditional Indian
aarti.

Overwhelmed with the love, she sent out a special message
which read, “I thank each and every one who came to welcome me, it was over
whelming and I am grateful for your support. Thank you for showering me with
all your love.”

For those who have come in late, it is after 17
years that a Miss India has won the prestigious title of Miss World --
Priyanka Chopra had won the title in 2000.

Soon after her win, former pageant winners such as
Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza sent out their wishes.
Manushi hails from Haryana. She was previously crowned
Femina Miss India 2017. Chhillar took part in the Femina Miss India 2017 competition,
representing the state of Haryana. During the competition, she was
crowned Miss Photogenic, and went on to win the competition as well, earning
the right to represent India at the Miss World 2017 competition.
Manushi Chhillar was born on 14th May, 1997 to doctor
parents in Haryana. Her father, Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, is a scientist at the
Defence Research and Development Organisation, while her mother, Dr. Neelam
Chhillar, is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at
the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
Chhillar studied at St. Thomas' School in New Delhi, and
was pursuing a medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical
College for Women in Sonipat. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer. Chhillar has
also attended the National School of Drama.
Manushi is the sixth Indian woman to win Miss World.
