Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood and his impressive body of work is the proof of the same. Manoj is one such actor who does not consider a film successful just by going its large box-office numbers. In a recent interview, he echoed similar sentiments as he slammed 1000 crore films such as RRR and KGF 2 saying that no one is really talking about the film or performances, everyone is talking about just numbers.

In an interview with Good Times, Manoj said in Hindi, “Koi baat hi nahi kar raha hai ki film kaisi hai? Koi baat karne ko raazi nahi hai performances kaesi hai. Baki departments ki kya contribution hai? Kya hai na hum sab Rs. 1000 crore aur 300 crore aur 400 crore mein phasein huye hai. Yeh jhagda kaayi saalon se chal raha hai aur mujhe lagta hai ki yeh khatam hone wala hai nahi.”

The Family Man actor further slammed critics by pointing out that they would then ask Why don’t you make films like them? Why is your film not working?.” Manoj explained that those in the mainstream are being put in the witness box by their own mainstream critics. However, he mentioned that he was never a part of that world. Manoj Bajpayee went on to add that earlier getting a film released in theaters was a tough job but now it gets tougher due to the Rs. 1000 crore films.

On the work front, Bajpayee is gearing up for the release of the family drama Gulmohar, which also stars veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and Amol Palekar. Directed by Rahul Chittella, the film will release on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar in August. Gulmohar marks Sharmila Tagore's comeback to Bollywood after a gap of 11 years.
